[Information about new business partners]
We have recently decided to do business with Kyohei Forging (Kyohei Shindo) in Kochi Prefecture. Shindo was born in Hokkaido. When he was a student, he traveled to Okinawa to study biology and enjoyed his youth.
Because he liked making things, he became interested in working as a blacksmith, and as a result of exploring the possibility of achieving what he wanted, he decided to go to Kochi Prefecture, the home of Tosa cutlery. I also worked as an assistant instructor at the Blacksmith Soseijuku of the Kochi Prefecture Tosa Knives Union Cooperative Association, and became independent three years ago.
Currently, he has a workshop in Kami City, Kochi Prefecture, and is living a busy life. The main product is the black double-edged knife, typical of Tosa Uchihamono. I had shown him a Santoku knife beforehand, and I noticed the ripples, the black shine on the blade, and the thinness of the cutting edge. I could see that it was very carefully crafted and fell in love with it at first sight.
The main steel material is blue steel, so it's not resistant to rust, but it's reasonably priced, and the more you use it, the more you get used to it and the more you grow attached to it.
Previous products have the Kyohei Forging logo engraved on them, but we have asked Mr. Shindo to engrave the inscription ``Made by Kyohei.'' We are very grateful that this is the first time that we have created a work by Kyohei.
Please note that we have not yet been able to add the item ``Kyohei Shindo'' to the HAGAKURE shop page. For the time being, please go to the top page and go to "Product List" → "By Purpose" → "Original" to view the products.
